Undead on the iPad

Marg got her new iPad earlier today. Having not owned an earlier model iPad, the whole family have spent most of the afternoon trying to get a go on it. Once she had a proper chance to try it out as a drawing tool, she mangaed to produce this charming portrait of a generic undead type fellow in just under half an hour - not bad for a first try.

She's using a drawing app called Sketch Book Pro and a Wacom Bamboo Stylus.

    1. Cheers Tim, I'm having a small tipple(I may have to finish the bottle) with Pete, and I shall drink your good health.

  2. That's awesome. Made my day because now I am totally stoked for the next issue of Oubliette! My daughter dropped hers and it kicked the bucket. So I gave her mine and got the 3 (oops, I mean iPad). I'm such a great dad huh? Lol.

  3. I think you sound like the best sort of dad! I would drink your health right now, but as it's the morning(8.40amish) and I have a terrible hangover, I'll wait until at least 9am for my first hair o' the dog.

  4. Oh and I'm writing from Pete's oublieditor account because my daughter is playing Tintin on my ipad, and I probably shan't be able to use it again until tonight.

    Marg.

  5. @Marg; I so wish I was British. When an American says tipple it just doesn't sound the same. Even on the Internet. Lol. Hope you feel better today and keep showing us your new art!

    2. Console yourself with your perfect teeth, and give my thanks to your fellow Americans over at Apple for making my perfectly lovely iPad.

  6. Lol. Not to boast but I do have very nice teeth. I suppose maybe my beautiful Chicklets do stun people into ignoring my barbaric language. And hey, since we are looking on the bright side, I suppose I could be German... Lol. Jk!

I really am stoked to see what you are going to put out there with your new toy. Not to gush but I am a huge fan of your art, quite honestly I like it much more than any of the others who are putting that sort of thing out there, not that there aren't many other great artists creating, you just happen to be may favorite. Have you done any other work besides Oubliette I may have missed?

Another question for you, how do you feel that your setup would work for maps on the iPad. What was the cost? I am not too savvy but my iPad has replaced my computer at this poin for the most part.

    1. Apologies for writing from Pete's account again, my iPad is having its beauty sleep(charges quicker without the wifi on).

Many thanks for your kind comments, does the heart(make that ego) good. I don't believe I have any work, other than the Oubliette illustrations, available for general consumption. I drew for a multicultural mag in the pre-mainstream internet days, so all I have of that are hard copies of the mag in the attic somewhere.

As to maps: At the moment, Pete does the technical maps on his computer and I've done hand-drawn maps on my previous computer-so I can see sketchbook pro on the iPad continuing that. I've only just discovered the joy of downloading apps, but if I come across anything useful for map making, I'll blog with a pic, the name of the app and the cost.
